Exodus Pants

The Exodus Pant is a mid-weight stretch fit, non-membrane soft shell trouser that uses our Matrix DWS (Double Weave Stretch) softshell fabric that is weather resistant and highly breathable.

The Exodus pants have been designed primarily as a Ski tour trouser with the hem sized according to fit a ski tour boot and an adjustable cinch system for perfect fit and zipped thigh vents allow venting when working really hard.

The Exodus also makes a great all round winter mountain pant with crampon patches for durability and articulated knees provide great freedom of movement.

Great Trousers, deal with harsh conditions with light thermals underneath.
Not the usual tight fitting trouser which is nice for walking and cragging.

Awesome pant with all right details like stretchiness, enough pockets, good venting. The only gripe is the waist sizing. I have other shorts manufactured by Rab as well and they have the same problem too. It seems that Rab is trying to compensate for the growing belly of the current population, so the stated size L (34, 86 cm), in my case, was more like size 36. I have pants made by two other British producers in the same size and they fit more like true European size. So, probably Rab is more oriented towards American customer size-wise, I don’t know, but the jackets, for example, fit me just right and I love them. So, definitely, try before you buy!

A good number of great softshell trousers are only available in black. This is fine in some conditions, but in snowy environments where the sun is out, they can end up feeling too hot. And so - slightly embarrassingly - I looked at this trousers partly because of the colour.

However, far beyond this I was impressed by:
    - great features (pockets / vents)
    - perfect fit
    - resilient fabric
    - general level of comfort
These are brilliant trousers, and I've already recommended them to friends.

The only thing I'd change (hence 4/5) is to have greater tightening capability (or a small internal gaiter) at the ankle for when they're used with lower profile mountain boots. This would remove the need to wear gaiters in most environments. However, the current set-up will work ideally with touring / alpine ski / plastics.

    Great trousers.
